Why 2026 is Dumbo's anniversary year

Dumbo premiered in New York on 23 October 1941 as Walt Disney's fourth animated feature. The story of a baby circus elephant who learns to fly with his oversized ears runs just 64 minutes, and it has stayed in print and on screen ever since. In 2026 the film turns 85, and Disney is marking it with merchandise in several countries.

What makes the Japanese series different

The Japanese series is its own design, separate from the US anniversary merchandise. Disney Store in the US launched a 17-inch Dumbo and Timothy plush at D23 in August 2026. Disney Store Japan instead built a full lifestyle range around one visual idea: the circus where the story takes place.

Three details run through the series. The artwork is drawn in a vintage comic style. Multicolour dots and stars stand in for circus confetti, with glitter flakes or holograms sealed into several items. Bright pink appears on ribbon charms, linings and zip pulls.
